Death...dying, and my thoughts on it *part one*

My first thought about death and dying is to wonder if maybe many approach death and dying the same way they lived their lives. Seeing how it is with some lately, I'm thinking that maybe how we treat people and circumstances in daily life is maybe how we'll approach dying and death... treating people and circumstances the same way.

Death doesn't scare me - I am a very curious person keen to learn all of the time, so I am intrigued what lies on the other side, if anything.
That doesn't mean I am in a hurry to find out, though!

Shiny happy smile

Death is a part of the great circle of Life.
While are bodies will be recycled in one way or another, I am interested where the spirit/soul/essence/whatever you wish to call it may go.

I see so many people just existing and wasting their time on this Earth - both in real life and online.
I would much rather spend my allotted span doing something constructive than to spend it vegetating in front of a TV or sending my time trolling people and offering no form of positive interaction.

It would be great if we all do meet up somewhere!

I wonder if HOW we may die is what worries some people. I also think some people feel they weren't so nice on Earth and worry about that at the end.
And... I recently saw how my brother tried to barter his way to NOT die... he bartered his way a lot in life, but death...he couldn't even barter for more time.

Yes, I think we all hope for a nice peaceful departure for ourselves and for those we leave behind.
There are definitely some way that no sane person would want to go.

I have so many friends and family members staring death in face right now due to old age, cancer, and being in a vegetative state, so I have been thinking more about what comes after and the methods for departing.

I was horrified to learn that people in persistent vegetative states are left to starve to death here, which can take weeks. How cruel and horrific is that?
Even if you say they aren't aware of what is happening, they have family and friends and maybe even children, even a young child as this person has. What is that going to be like for them?
Surely an overdose of some painkiller would be far kinder.
If you treated an animal like that, you would be prosecuted, and rightly so.
Many are campaigning for a change in the law to allow assisted dying here. I think everyone should be allowed that dignity, even if there are numerous hoops to jump through first to make sure that it is the right thing to do.
People with MND usually end up choking to death. Not nice for them or those with them.
We are a bizarre species at times.

I didn't realize starving people to death was even an option! Sounds more like a terror tactic used on enemies!
That really shouldn't be allowed. :(
Assisted dying for those being left to starve anyway seems like a much better way to handle it... definitely better than starving.

Yep... many people have been taken to court for unkind treatment of animals.... but starving someone to death is not against the law. I really shake my head at that.

This may seem like a strange thing to share, but this hospice nurse has done a lot of great videos explaining the process of death and trying to educate people so they aren't afraid of dying and can understand and not get upset seeing others dying.
Anyway, this one really stuck out to me.

Kieran,
I understand what that woman is trying to convey.
Thank you for sharing.
I'm going to pass this along.
