I gave it a shot.. had Disqus commenting on this site and can't say it was really a great thing.
It was great in some ways and with the right people...but when it became a place for people to continue posting things that really weren't in keeping with the topics and many wouldn't show up without being tagged, it seemed like time to let it go. The commenting system itself still leaves many with the issue of carrying on with fights, tagging to insult and just a lot of negative things.
I don't really care if nobody comes to use the site anymore. If something isn't worth bothering with, then it saves the time and aggravation. soap box
That's about it. Anyone really wishing to post here can start an account and feel free to post a topic or just reply on ones already going.

I can still mod for Disqus...kind of odd but it works! Have modded a few things and really surprised at things I never saw before....

OK, I will keep an eye on this moderation bit now, Breezey, and comment/post as well as appropriate.
There's crazy fighting going on on parts of Disqus. slap face
I would have thought there was enough strife in the world right now without that.

The fighting and grudges being held from way back when channels were still a thing is what I am tired of...among a few other things. The ban list for this site, on the Disqus end will probably have a few more added. I've been going back through older posts and seeing things I missed before.

Yes, for me, the end of the channels was a means to start afresh with all the good bits and leave all the crappy bits behind, but some people can't seem to do that. I don't want my site to look like the channels and I certainly didn't want to have all the crap we had to put up with at times on there.

Kieran, I think your site is safe from the crap I see on other sites. Seems to me your site has always been a really decent one without a lot of fights and hate.... I think the group of people there makes it
a great place. They all get along and don't post a bunch of upsetting things to or about others. Your site will do just fine. The end of Disqus on this site Thumb_10

Goodness, this is where everyone is, these sites are ok when windows 10 is activated, on my replacement pc that i've had for several months. Disqus works better too, when I was upvoting in win 7 sometimes pop up boxes would get in the way and send me to a disqus account. Shiny happy smile

I found the answer!! Quotation marks around the actual names for names with spaces!!
I remember now, I originally had a space in my name, so you had to do that until I took it out to make KieranT one word.

There is no longer any connection to Disqus from this site. The accounts I had are gone, which means any replies from the disqus end are gone too.
In ways... this site is starting anew. :)

Thank you, Kieran. I try to have a decent site but realize when Disqus was still attached... we had problems. It was too easy for people to start fights or call names, etc.. and it became tiring to keep track and have to ban them.
Much better this way... peace of mind. hand shake dancing happy
