As most of us have seen, food prices keep going higher... especially the eggs! Well, milk isn't so cheap lately either. Butter is getting ridiculous!
Many food items, I refuse to buy if not a necessity.

Today, I got gallons of whole milk for approximately $1.50. Aldi had $2 off stickers on the gallons and they are still good for the date til the 8th. I won't complain and I know that milk will be good past the date on the containers.

Hi, Breezey!!
Sorry, that I went AWOL for a while. 2022 was not a good year at all, the second half especially, but never mind, hopefully, this new one will be better. 🤞

Yes, some foodstuffs have got stupid over here but you can shop around.
Our supermarkets have started taking best-before dates off a lot of things as people were throwing out perfectly good food just because of a date on a  sticker. I use my senses and common sense with food and yes, milk lasts a lot longer than many people think.

A bad case of bird flu has knocked the free range and organic poultry and egg producers for six but we are seeing a bit more making it back to the shelves.
The geese producers particularly. They have one market a year - Christmas - and most got hit.

Anyway, I hope you had a lovely Christmas. 😁
And Happy New Year to you and your family!!

Hello Kieran! Good to see you here. :)
I understand about some of the things going on, but when people start overpricing food items, a lot ends up not selling. Not many want to pay $4 or more for a dozen of eggs.
I've gotten to the point I don't buy many items I normally would.
We had Heavy cream half priced because not many were buying it at the ridiculous prices and it was all close to expiration date.
It kind of reminds me of when Covid was a big issue and places were selling hand sanitizer at outrageous prices. After things settled down, places couldn't even give the crap away. It went from $13 and $14 a gallon to a lousy dollar and still sat on the shelf.
I wonder if it's a test to see how many of us will pay the exorbitant prices or do without.

Oh, there are definitely plenty of companies and individuals using any excuse to try to rip people off.
I too am sure that things aren't costing as much to produce as is claimed, but then it often isn't the farmer/manufacturer who is cashing in, but the retailer or middlemen.
This has been the case here for many things for years, long before Covid and inflation etc.
Farmers get paid very little when they sell a young sheep to be butchered and sold as lamb, but lamb in the shops is VERY expensive.
Someone is making money and it isn't the farmers!!

I agree completely! People who pay high prices for things not really needed are the reason the prices stay higher too.
I've been finding ways to cut out the middleman on many things... finding people who are willing to send cows, pigs, deer and such to butchers and we pay a processing fee. And... it's so much better than store bought with all the additives and such. Same goes for finding people with eggs.
